Lobuche Peak Climbing – 17 Days
Everest Base Camp & Lobuche Peak Summit Adventure
Lobuche Peak Climbing – 17 Days is a challenging Himalayan adventure combining the legendary Everest Base Camp trek with the ascent of Lobuche Peak (6,119 m).
The journey begins in Kathmandu and continues by flight to Lukla before following the classic Everest-region trail through Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche and Lobuche. Along the way, you experience Sherpa culture, Buddhist monasteries and spectacular Himalayan landscapes.
The itinerary includes Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) and Kala Patthar (approximately 5,545 m) before entering the climbing phase. After preparation at Lobuche High Camp, the team makes a carefully assessed summit attempt on Lobuche Peak.
With an experienced Himalayan guide and proper acclimatization, this itinerary is designed for adventurous trekkers and climbers who want to experience both the Everest region and a 6,000-meter Himalayan summit.
Important: Lobuche Peak is a serious high-altitude climbing objective. Summit success is never guaranteed and depends on weather, snow and ice conditions, route safety, acclimatization, individual health and overall team conditions.

Lobuche Peak Climbing 17 Days – Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu – Welcome to Nepal
Welcome to Nepal!
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from our Team will welcome you and arrange a private transfer to your Kathmandu hotel according to the group size.
After checking in, you can relax, rest and prepare for your upcoming Lobuche Peak adventure.
In the evening, a welcome dinner at an authentic Nepalese restaurant may be arranged, accompanied by a traditional cultural performance.
Overnight: Kathmandu
Altitude: Approximately 1,400 m
Day 02: Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding – Gateway to the Everest Region
Your Everest-region adventure begins with a flight toward Lukla.
Flight timing and routing depend on weather and operational conditions. After arriving in Lukla, meet the trekking team and begin walking through the beautiful lower Khumbu region.
The trail follows the Dudh Koshi Valley toward Phakding, passing traditional villages, suspension bridges and scenic mountain landscapes.
The first trekking day is intentionally moderate, giving you an opportunity to begin adapting to the trail and increasing elevation.
Overnight: Phakding
Altitude: Approximately 2,610 m
Day 03: Phakding to Namche Bazaar – 3,440 m
The trail continues north along the Dudh Koshi Valley before climbing toward Namche Bazaar, the gateway to the Everest region.
Cross suspension bridges and walk through pine and rhododendron forests before entering the higher Khumbu landscape.
The final approach includes a sustained ascent to Namche. Maintaining a comfortable pace and staying hydrated is more important than walking quickly.
Overnight: Namche Bazaar
Altitude: 3,440 m
Day 04: Namche Bazaar Acclimatization Day
Today is dedicated to acclimatization.
Rather than spending the entire day resting, a short and controlled hike can help your body adapt to the higher elevation before continuing upward.
You may explore the surrounding area, visit viewpoints or simply rest and prepare for the next stage of the journey.
Any acclimatization activity should remain moderate. The objective is altitude adaptation, not athletic performance.
Overnight: Namche Bazaar
Altitude: 3,440 m
Day 05: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche – 3,870 m
Leave Namche and follow a scenic section of the Khumbu trail with views toward several Himalayan peaks when visibility permits.
The route gradually descends and climbs through beautiful forests before reaching Tengboche.
Tengboche is famous for its Buddhist monastery and spectacular mountain surroundings.
As the elevation increases, maintain a controlled pace and avoid unnecessary exertion.
Overnight: Tengboche
Altitude: 3,870 m
Day 06: Tengboche to Dingboche – 4,360 m
Continue toward the upper Khumbu Valley, passing through changing vegetation and increasingly open alpine terrain.
After crossing toward the Imja Valley, the trail reaches Dingboche, an important settlement frequently used by trekkers and climbers for acclimatization.
The higher elevation becomes more noticeable here, making steady pacing, hydration and adequate rest increasingly important.
Overnight: Dingboche
Altitude: 4,360 m
Day 07: Dingboche Acclimatization Day
A second important acclimatization day is scheduled at Dingboche before moving toward elevations above 5,000 meters.
Depending on weather, health and guide assessment, a controlled hike toward a higher viewpoint may be arranged before returning to Dingboche.
The objective is to allow further physiological adaptation while avoiding excessive fatigue.
Overnight: Dingboche
Altitude: 4,360 m
Day 08: Dingboche to Lobuche – 4,940 m
Leave Dingboche and continue into increasingly rugged high-altitude terrain.
The landscape becomes more exposed as you approach the Khumbu Glacier and moraine environment.
The trail eventually reaches Lobuche, where the elevation is already close to 5,000 meters.
At this stage, fatigue and altitude can become more significant, so rest, nutrition, hydration and communication with your guide are essential.
Overnight: Lobuche
Altitude: 4,940 m
Day 09: Lobuche to Gorak Shep and Everest Base Camp – Return to Gorak Shep
Today is one of the longest trekking days of the itinerary.
Continue toward Gorak Shep before beginning the excursion to Everest Base Camp.
The trail crosses demanding high-altitude terrain around the Khumbu Glacier and surrounding moraine.
After spending time at Everest Base Camp, return to Gorak Shep for the night.
Because of the high elevation, maintain a conservative pace and communicate any symptoms or concerns to your guide immediately.
Overnight: Gorak Shep
Everest Base Camp: Approximately 5,364 m
Day 10: Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar and Descend to Lobuche
An early start allows the group to attempt Kala Patthar before descending toward Lobuche.
The ascent reaches approximately 5,545 meters, making this a demanding high-altitude morning.
When conditions are clear, Kala Patthar provides spectacular views toward Mount Everest and surrounding Himalayan peaks. However, mountain visibility cannot be guaranteed because Himalayan weather can change rapidly.
After descending, continue toward Lobuche, where the focus shifts toward preparation for the climbing phase.
Overnight: Lobuche
Kala Patthar: Approximately 5,545 m
Day 11: Lobuche to High Camp – 5,400 m
The climbing phase begins as the team moves toward Lobuche High Camp.
The route becomes increasingly focused on mountaineering preparation. Your guide reviews climbing equipment, movement procedures and the plan for summit day.
Climbers should organize their clothing, crampons, harness and other technical equipment according to the confirmed route requirements.
The final summit decision will depend on weather, snow and ice conditions, team health and guide assessment.
Overnight: Lobuche High Camp
Altitude: Approximately 5,400 m
Day 12: Lobuche High Camp to Summit – 6,119 m – Descend Toward Pheriche
Summit Day
The summit attempt begins early, often before sunrise, to take advantage of the available weather window.
Depending on route conditions, the climb may involve crampons, harnesses and rope systems under the supervision of the climbing staff.
The route becomes increasingly demanding as you approach the summit.
The objective is to reach the highest safe point determined by the climbing team and current mountain conditions.
If conditions permit, the team attempts to reach the summit of Lobuche Peak at 6,119 meters.
After the summit attempt, descend carefully and continue toward lower elevation, with the itinerary targeting Pheriche.
Maximum altitude: 6,119 m
Overnight: Pheriche / as determined by the actual summit-day schedule
Summit success is not guaranteed. The climbing team may turn around at any point if weather, snow, ice, route conditions, altitude or individual health make continuing unsafe.
Day 13: Contingency Day for Weather and Summit Operations
A dedicated contingency day provides flexibility for unexpected mountain conditions.
It may be required because of:
- Poor weather
- Unsafe snow or ice conditions
- Flight disruption
- Acclimatization requirements
- Changes to the climbing team’s schedule
- Other operational or safety considerations
If the summit has already been completed, the day can provide additional logistical flexibility.
A contingency day does not guarantee a summit if conditions remain unsafe.
Day 14: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar – 3,440 m
After the climbing phase, begin the return journey through the Khumbu Valley toward Namche Bazaar.
Descending to lower elevations is generally welcome after spending time above 5,000 meters, although the distance can still be demanding following a summit attempt.
Maintain a steady pace and take appropriate breaks along the trail.
The changing landscape and familiar villages provide a gradual transition from the high-mountain environment.
Overnight: Namche Bazaar
Altitude: 3,440 m
Day 15: Namche Bazaar to Lukla – 2,860 m
Today is the final trekking day.
Follow the trail back through the lower Khumbu, crossing suspension bridges and retracing sections of the route toward Lukla.
The descent provides time to reflect on the summit experience and the incredible journey through the Everest region.
After reaching Lukla, stay overnight in preparation for your return flight.
Overnight: Lukla
Altitude: Approximately 2,860 m
Day 16: Fly from Lukla to Ramechhap and Drive to Kathmandu
The return flight and onward transportation depend on current aviation arrangements, weather and airport operations.
During periods when Kathmandu-bound mountain flights operate through Ramechhap/Manthali, travelers may fly to Ramechhap and continue by road to Kathmandu.
The road journey can take several hours depending on traffic and road conditions.
The exact routing should be reconfirmed before departure.
Overnight: Kathmandu
Day 17: Final Departure from Kathmandu
Your Lobuche Peak Climbing adventure concludes today.
According to your international flight schedule, a private car, van or bus can be arranged for your transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport, depending on your group size and luggage requirements.
If you have additional time in Nepal, you can discuss other trekking, cultural or adventure experiences separately.
